Welcome to the website for the seminar on « health and well being of young people in Europe ».
Here you will find information about the seminar: practical information, programme, useful documents and explanation of the workshops.
The French Presidency (July-December 2008) of the Council of the European Union selected health and well-being of young people as one of the priorities of its work in the field of youth.
In November, the Council of Ministers of Youth adopted a Resolution on health and wellbeing of young people in November and a seminar was held in Marly le Roi, France from December 8th to 11th, 2008.
This seminar, jointly organised by the Presidency and the Youth Partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Europe reviewed the state of health of young people in Europe, explored good practice at national, regional and European levels and proposed political and practical recommendations on how to assist young people, particularly most vulnerable, to become actors in their own health.
The event brought together a hundred participants: researchers, representatives of Member States and the European Commission, members of European youth NGOs and NGOs working in the field of health. By promoting exchanges between these actors, the seminar contributed towards the implementation of the Council of Ministers’s Resolution.
